Codrul Secular Slătioara
The component part is situated in den Eastern Romanian Carpathians and is characterised by old-growth beech forests with fir trees exceeding 50 meters of height. In the upper altitudinal zone, they are occasionally replaced by spruce forests. Large quantities of dead wood and an abundance of old trees characterise the forests as particularly natural. Brown bear and lynx can be found here. Rare plant species include Lady's slipper orchid and Rose daphne.
