Chornohora

In 1912, the first primeval forest was placed under protection in Chornohora. The mountain range is mainly dominated by primeval beech forests mixed with coniferous trees, such as fir and spruce. This component part is the largest distribution area of beech at an altitude over 1,500 meters above sea level within the UNESCO site. The European mink (Mustela lutreola), which is already extinct within most of its natural habitat, can be found here.
