Monte Cimino
The component part is located in northern Lazio. Monte Cimino appears like an island rising from the lowlands, entirely covered by beech forest. It is thought that a sacred wood has existed here since the Bronze Age. The 150 to 250-year-old Beech trees are up to 50 metres high and feature trunks with a diameter of more than a metre. In spring, the volcanic soils are covered with spectacular blooming carpets.
